Matthew Sun

Hi there! I'm a software engineer and writer based in San Francisco. I grew up on the East Coast, studied computer science and public policy in college (California) and graduate school (New Jersey), and moved back to the Bay Area in 2023. I'm also a language learner, book club ringleader, and urban enthusiast.

miscellaneous

  • Communities I'm part of around the Bay: Bay Area Tenants and Neighbors Council, Abacus Row language chats, and an Infinite Jest book club.
  • Books I like: Philip Roth's Sabbath's Theater (thanks Sheon for the recommendation), Ben Lerner's Leaving the Atocha Station, Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, Becca Rothfeld's All Things Are Too Small, and Tony Tulathimutte's Rejection.
  • Other recommendations: the Heavyweight podcast, the Roxie Theater, sunset hikes at Land's End, Readwise, Telve Cafe (specifically, the little nook in the window) and Browser Books, whose discounted books table often has some real gems.
